Project 4: Aeroelastic Tailoring for Gust Loads and Maneuver Loads

Project objectives:

  • Prototype coupled nonlinear aeroelastic-flight mechanic framework to model
    and simulate free-flying transonic height-aspect-ratio-wing (HARW)
    configurations, and
  • Investigate the potential of (passive) composite tailoring and (active) leading
    and trailing edge control surfaces and moveable wing tips to provide improved
    control authority, MLA and GLA in HARW aircraft configurations
